Emacs 24 with fullscreen?
If you use Yamamoto Mitsuharu's emacs-mac-port then true full-screen "Just Works" (and much else too). No need for any patches or workarounds. At least, this is true for me on Mountain Lion. YMMV on earlier OS versions.
