Reverse a string in Java
You can use this:
new StringBuilder(hi).reverse().toString()
StringBuilder
was added in Java 5. For versions prior to Java 5, the StringBuffer
class can be used instead — it has the same API.
For Online Judges problems that does not allow StringBuilder
or StringBuffer
, you can do it in place using char[]
as following:
public static String reverse(String input){
char[] in = input.toCharArray();
int begin=0;
int end=in.length-1;
char temp;
while(end>begin){
temp = in[begin];
in[begin]=in[end];
in[end] = temp;
end--;
begin++;
}
return new String(in);
}
public static String reverseIt(String source) {
int i, len = source.length();
StringBuilder dest = new StringBuilder(len);
for (i = (len - 1); i >= 0; i--){
dest.append(source.charAt(i));
}
return dest.toString();
}
