What is wrong with this phrase [closed]

It was last night here. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the phrase "It was last night here". Thanks for all your help. It is appreciated.

Solution 1:

Absent any context, the sentence looks fine, possibly as an answer to a question like:

  • Where and when was it (that X happened)?

Answer: It (whatever is being referred to) was last night here.

Curiously, in this other sentence "was" would tend to mean "was located" (locative meaning), instead of having the predominantly temporal meaning rendered by the position of the adverbs in your original sentence:

  • Where's my wallet?
  • It was here last night. (locative meaning)
