How do I debug Mac freezes caused by VMware Fusion
I never figured out how to debug this properly, but the following seems to have fixed it:
- Run fsck (
xfs_repair) on the VM filesystems. (I'm not sure whether this was really necessary; the crashing still kept happening until I did step 2. I'm just reporting it for completeness.) - In VMware Fusion, go to Virtual Machine -> Settings -> Advanced, and set "Hard disk buffering" to Disabled.
