iOS calendar doesn't sync in background
Solution 1:
So the actual solution was to go to:
Settings > Calendars > Accounts > Fetch New Data > [My Account name] >and here tap on "Push".
Selecting "Push" in
Settings > Calendars > Accounts > Fetch New Data
was not enough.
