FreeRadius return User Groups in Class field
I use strongSwan to authenticate against FreeRadius which it does but now I need FreeRadius to return the user's groups in the Class field so they can be checked by strongSwan [1].
I'm using winbind
and ntlm_auth
on freeradius to authenticate users, which is working.
I've managed to work out how to add extra fields to the response by putting an update reply
in the file /etc/raddb/sites-available/default
post-auth {
...
update reply {
Class = "%{Group}"
}
...
}
Is that the place to put it??
but as you can see below, the Class is null.

How can I return the User's Active Directory groups in the Class field?

Solution 1:
I have managed to get 'a group' in to the class by following this article and using memberOf as the attribute.
http://lists.freeradius.org/pipermail/freeradius-users/2016-August/084450.html
This is what I did:
1) Added a mapping in ldap mod.
/etc/raddb/mods-enabled/ldap
ldap {
...
update {
...
reply:memberOf += 'memberOf'
}
...
}
2) Added an Attribute reference
/etc/raddb/dictionary
ATTRIBUTE memberOf 3001 string
3) Added a update reply
/etc/raddb/sites-enabled/default
post-auth {
...
foreach &reply:memberOf {
update reply {
Class += "%{exec:/etc/raddb/rewrite-dn.sh %{Foreach-Variable-0}}"
}
}
...
}
/etc/raddb/mods-enabled/exec
wait=yes
/etc/raddb/rewrite-dn.sh
#!/bin/bash
echo "${1}" | cut -d',' -f1 | cut -d'=' -f2
Nb. Thanks to @ecdsa for pointing out that strongSwan only reads the first 43 characters of a Class value. See comment in original question.
The log then looks like the following
