Media keys don't work
Solution 1:
The media keys do work (with rhythmbox). They do not work with banshee or VLC because there's a bug with banshee 2.6.2 and VLC 2.2.2 in Ubuntu 16.04.
A work around for VLC is to set a global hotkey.
