How do I update ubuntu packages 16.04 with Terminal? [duplicate]

I'm looking to know how to update Ubuntu through the Terminal command line.

I want to update the operating systems software for when and if the people behind ubuntu launch an update for v16.

This works on 14.04 sorry for making it look alike. How to install updates via command line?

Ubuntu 16.04 uses the apt package manager. To update from the terminal command line type in the following:

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

or to get a full explanation of all apt commands, run
