How to replace all images in Libreoffice with their description

Solution 1:

This is a different way without using Macros. As .odt file is basically just zipped files and the main file is an XML.

1. Create a XML style sheet texmath_raw_equation.xslt

2. Extract .odt file to tmp folder, example texmath_test.odt:

   7z x -otmp texmath_test.odt
   

3. Replace TexMath image (hold by <draw:g></draw:g> tag) with its description (hold by <svg:desc></svg:desc> tag)

   xsltproc -o content.xml texmath_raw_equation.xslt tmp/content.xml
   mv content.xml tmp/content.xml
   

4. Compress back to new .odt file

   cd tmp
   7z a -tzip ../texmath_test_new.odt *
   cd ..
   rm -r tmp
