How to set the default value of an attribute on a Laravel model [duplicate]

You can set Default attribute in Model also>

protected $attributes = [
        'status' => self::STATUS_UNCONFIRMED,
        'role_id' => self::ROLE_PUBLISHER,

The other answers are not working for me - they may be outdated. This is what I used as my solution for auto setting an attribute:

/**
 * The "booting" method of the model.
 *
 * @return void
 */
protected static function boot()
{
    parent::boot();

    // auto-sets values on creation
    static::creating(function ($query) {
        $query->is_voicemail = $query->is_voicemail ?? true;
    });
}

You should set default values in migrations:

$table->tinyInteger('role')->default(1);
