Minecraft world has no endportal
It's not an error. It's bad luck. Ravines can generate anywhere, including right through your portal, and since you mentioned one connected to your stronghold... Here's the wiki that states Portal rooms can be overwritten by things, like ravines, caves, mineshafts, etc.
