cannot install iOS 7.1 simulator for Xcode 6 (weird file mounting error)

  1. Quit Xcode (Command ⌘+Q).
  2. Delete the ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.dt.Xcode folder.
  3. Reopen Xcode.
