How to get sugarcane in minecraft PE?

According the wiki page on Sugarcane, it is the hardest block to obtain in Minecraft Pocket Edition, due to the worlds not being endless. If there is some that does spawn in your world (sometimes there is none at all), you should be able to destroy it and pick itup, even in the free/demo version of Minecraft Pocket Edition. Also, it only spawns in sandy areas, but the sand HAS to be near water.

To get sugarcane, you have to look for a lake, ocean or water source. There is a small chance that there is sugarcane beside the water source, as sugarcane can only grow on the block which is horizontally or vertically beside water. Sugarcane can be used to obtain paper, book and bookshelf.

You can also place one block of sugar cane, hit it with bone meal and it will grow.
